Google AdSense is a free program that enables website publishers of all sizes to display relevant Google ads and earn profit.

Display targeted Google ads on your website's content pages and earn from valid clicks or impressions.
AdSense gives you access to Google's vast network of advertisers, so you can show ads that are suited to your audience's interests.

There are hundreds of programs that will tell you many different techniques to make money from ads alone. But it is definitely possible. I will not disclose any figures, but over 50% of my continual revenue comes from ads. With that said i will give you three tips to making lots of money with ads. I have had some success with Yahoo ad center as well as MSN. However it takes a lot more footwork, due to the fact that neither will give you ads that are specific to your site.

1.) Always make ads BLEND into your site format ( google will allow you to ban certain ads and control size and color).

2.)Never trick people into clicking your ads by placement or hidden ads(people will never return to click any more ads).

3.) Don't expect to make $5,000 a month from one site.(repetition is the key)

Look at realistic numbers. The projected response for a site is about 5-12%. per thousand. So unless you are getting 100,000 visitors a day you will make only a few hundreds a month. But on the other hand if you take time to build a site and perfect your craft, You will be able to begin to make a site a month. After one year you have twelve sites bringing you in a few hundred a month. Say you build two a month, now you have 24 bringing in a few hundreds a month. Now you are making a little money.

Also experiment with different topics to start a blog on. Certain topics receive more epc (earnings per click) than others. For instance Mortgage terms receive some of the highest epc. but this changes frequently with economic trends, so experiment.
